What is the difference between a touch digitizer and an LCD screen?
The touch digitizer is the outer glass layer of the screen that senses touch gestures like tapping or swiping. It does not display any image.
The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is the layer underneath that shows the actual content — such as images, videos, and text. In short: the digitizer handles touch, while the LCD handles visuals.
Do I need to replace the LCD or just the touch digitizer?
It depends on the issue you're experiencing.
If the touch function is unresponsive (e.g. you can't tap, swipe, or select anything), but the screen still displays images clearly, you may only need to replace the digitizer.
If the screen is black, has lines, blotches, or shows distorted images, then the LCD likely needs to be replaced.
If both the touch and display are not working properly (e.g. cracked screen and no image), then both the digitizer and LCD may need replacing.
